PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated on : 25 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how UNIUS LLP ("UNIUS", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects personal data when users access or use the UNIUS mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

UNIUS is a community-driven platform for nearby voluntary help requests, local events, direct messaging, group coordination, references, reporting, and trust and safety features. UNIUS is intended for use in India only.

For the purposes of applicable Indian data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable rules as they come into force, UNIUS LLP acts as the Data Fiduciary in relation to personal data processed through the Services.

1. Eligibility

UNIUS is intended for individuals located in India who are 18 years or older. The Services are not directed to children. Users should not create an account or use the Services if they are below 18 years of age.

2. Personal Data We Collect

We collect personal data that is necessary to provide, secure, improve, and administer the Services. The categories of personal data we may collect include:

  • Account and login information, including email address, authentication information, account status, and related login records.

  • Profile information provided by the user, including name, profile photo, broad area label, hometown, languages, interests, skills, pets, work or role, availability status, and about section.

  • Private safety and eligibility information, including emergency contact name, emergency contact phone number, and gender selection. This information is not displayed on the public profile.

  • Location information, including current/live location coordinates used for distance calculation and nearby discovery, and a public broad area label such as a society, street, or nearby landmark.

  • User-generated content, including help requests, direct help requests, event posts, event cover images, responses, join requests, chat messages, chat photos, references, reference tags, reports, and optional report evidence.

  • App activity and interaction records, including offers, approvals, declines, completions, block and unblock status, unread status, in-app notifications, activity records, event membership, and group membership.

  • Technical and security information required for login, session management, security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, service reliability, and troubleshooting.

UNIUS currently does not collect government identity documents. If identity verification or government ID verification is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy, app disclosures, consent flows, and store disclosures should be updated before that feature is released.

3. How Location Is Used

UNIUS uses current/live location coordinates to calculate distance and show nearby people, help requests, and events according to the user-selected discovery radius. Exact coordinates are not displayed publicly.

Other users may see only a broad nearby label, such as a society, street, or landmark-level area. Users should not share exact flat, house, or private address details unless they choose to do so in a relevant private chat after exercising their own judgment.

When a user creates a help request or event, the post keeps the location context used at the time it was created. Updating live location later should not move old posts, events, or references to the user's new location.

4. Consent, Permissions, And User Choices

Where required by law, UNIUS processes personal data based on the user's consent or on another lawful basis permitted under applicable law. By creating an account, completing onboarding, enabling permissions, submitting content, or using a feature, the user provides the information required for that feature to operate.

Users may choose not to provide certain optional information. However, some information is necessary for the Services to work. For example, current location permission is needed for nearby discovery, and email authentication is needed to create and access an account.

Users may withdraw or change certain permissions through device settings or app settings. Withdrawal of consent or disabling permissions may limit or prevent use of affected features. Users may also request account deletion as described in this Privacy Policy.

5. Purposes For Which We Use Personal Data

We use personal data for lawful and legitimate purposes connected with providing and protecting the Services, including to:

  • Create and manage user accounts and profiles.

  • Show nearby people, help requests, and events according to location and distance settings.

  • Allow users to create, respond to, accept, decline, join, leave, complete, close, cancel, and coordinate help requests and events.

  • Support women-only visibility when a woman chooses to create a women-only help request or event.

  • Provide direct chats, help groups, and event groups.

  • Send in-app notifications and activity updates related to user interactions.

  • Display public references after completed interactions according to UNIUS reference timing rules.

  • Process reports, blocks, account deletion requests, and safety reviews.

  • Prevent spam, scams, abuse, harassment, unsafe behavior, unauthorized access, and misuse of the Services.

  • Maintain, debug, secure, and improve the Services.

  • Comply with applicable legal obligations, lawful requests, dispute resolution requirements, and enforcement of our rights and safety standards.

UNIUS does not support paid help, paid events, tips, donations, selling, promotions, dating, or business advertising inside the app.

6. What Other Users Can See

Depending on the feature used, other users may be able to see:

  • Public profile information.

  • Public broad area label.

  • Public help requests and event posts.

  • Women-only help requests and event posts, only where the viewing user is eligible to see women-only posts.

  • Public references after they become visible under the app rules.

  • Chat messages and photos only in chats, help groups, or event groups where they are valid participants.

  • Event attendee or member information in the relevant event context.

Other users should not be able to see:

  • Emergency contact details.

  • Gender selection.

  • Exact live coordinates.

  • Private reports or report evidence.

  • Chats, groups, notifications, or activity records where they are not valid participants.

  • Private account, security, or moderation data.

Gender selection is used for women-only visibility eligibility and is not shown on public profiles.

7. Messages, Photos, And Groups

Messages and photos are visible to participants in the relevant direct chat, help group, or event group. Users may delete a chat from their own view, but that action does not delete the conversation for other participants.

Chat photos and report evidence are stored using protected storage. Users should report any photo, message, profile, request, event, or reference that appears unsafe, abusive, promotional, sexual, illegal, misleading, or otherwise inconsistent with UNIUS community standards.

8. References

References are public trust notes connected to completed help interactions or personal recommendations. A reference may become visible when both relevant users have submitted their references or after the waiting period used by UNIUS.

References are intended to support community trust and safety. They may not be edited or removed by the writer or receiver through normal app controls. If a reference creates a safety, privacy, abuse, or legal concern, users may report it for review.

If an account is deleted, UNIUS may remove or anonymize personal identifiers connected to references where required, while retaining limited trust and safety records where necessary for abuse prevention, moderation history, dispute handling, or legal compliance.

9. Reports, Blocks, And Safety Review

Users may report profiles, messages, help requests, events, references, photos, and general safety concerns. Reports may include a reason, written note, and optional evidence photo.

Report data is used for moderation, safety review, abuse prevention, and legal compliance. It is not displayed publicly. UNIUS may restrict accounts, remove content, preserve evidence, or take other safety actions where necessary.

Users may block and unblock other users. Blocking is intended to stop direct messaging and nearby discovery visibility between the relevant users, while preserving prior chat history where necessary for safety context, dispute handling, or legal compliance.

10. Disclosure Of Personal Data

UNIUS does not sell personal data. We may disclose personal data only where necessary to operate, protect, or legally administer the Services, including:

  • To other users, where disclosure is part of the feature being used, such as public profiles, public posts, public references, event attendance context, and participant chats.

  • To service providers that support authentication, database, storage, hosting, app builds, security, diagnostics, and service functionality, including providers such as Supabase and Expo/EAS.

  • To app distribution platforms such as Apple App Store and Google Play, where required for app distribution, installation, updates, crash handling, or platform compliance.

  • To legal, regulatory, law enforcement, or government authorities if required by applicable law or lawful process.

  • To protect users, investigate abuse, enforce safety standards, prevent fraud or misuse, or defend legal rights.

11. Third-Party Service Providers

UNIUS may use third-party service providers to host, store, secure, authenticate, build, distribute, and operate the Services. These providers process information on our behalf and are expected to handle data according to their contractual, legal, and security obligations.

UNIUS currently does not use advertising networks, targeted advertising, payment processors, or analytics tracking services. If such services are introduced later, this Privacy Policy and applicable platform disclosures should be updated before release.

12. Data Retention

UNIUS retains personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Services, maintain trust and safety, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and support moderation and security records.

Our approximate retention approach is:

  • Account and profile data: retained while the account exists, then deleted or anonymized after account deletion processing, subject to lawful exceptions.

  • Emergency contact details and gender selection: retained privately while the account exists, then deleted during account deletion processing unless retention is legally required.

  • Help requests and events: retained while active and may remain as historical interaction records after completion, closure, cancellation, or deletion where needed for trust, safety, or dispute history.

  • Messages and photos: retained for relevant chat participants unless deleted from a user's own view or removed for safety or legal reasons.

  • Reports and evidence: retained as needed for safety review, abuse prevention, legal compliance, and moderation history.

  • Location coordinates: used for discovery and post location context. Exact coordinates are not intended to be displayed publicly.

13. Account Deletion And Data Principal Rights

Users may request deletion of their account and personal data from inside the app or by contacting support@unius.in. After a deletion request, UNIUS will remove or anonymize personal account data where possible, subject to limited retention where necessary for safety, legal compliance, abuse prevention, dispute handling, fraud prevention, or moderation history.

Account deletion instructions are available at: https://www.unius.in/account-deletion

Subject to applicable law, users may request access to information about their personal data, correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data, erasure of personal data, withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent, grievance redressal, and nomination of another person to exercise rights in the event of death or incapacity.

Users are responsible for ensuring that information they provide is accurate, lawful, and does not violate the rights, safety, or privacy of another person.

14. Grievance Redressal

Users may raise privacy, safety, deletion, or account-related grievances by contacting support@unius.in. UNIUS may request reasonable information to verify the user and understand the request before taking action.

If a user is not satisfied with the response or believes their rights have not been addressed, they may have the right to pursue remedies available under applicable law, including before the competent authority where applicable.

15. Security And Personal Data Breaches

UNIUS uses technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect user data, including Supabase row-level security, protected storage rules, secure device session storage, scoped backend functions, access controls, and security checks.

If UNIUS becomes aware of a personal data breach that is likely to affect user privacy or security, UNIUS will take reasonable steps to investigate, contain, and remediate the incident and provide notices required under applicable law.

No system is completely secure. Users should avoid sharing sensitive details, exact home address information, financial details, identity documents, private emergency information, or other high-risk personal information in chats or public posts.

16. Children

UNIUS is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly provide the Services to children. If we learn that a child has created an account, we may take steps to delete or restrict the account and associated personal data, subject to applicable law and safety considerations.

17. International Processing

UNIUS is intended for India-only launch. Some service providers may process or store data using infrastructure located outside the user's state or outside India, depending on provider architecture and service configuration. Where applicable, UNIUS will rely on lawful mechanisms and provider commitments for such processing.

18. Changes To This Privacy Policy

UNIUS may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app, legal requirements, or operational practices change. Material updates should be reflected in the app, website, and applicable app store disclosures before public release of the relevant feature. Continued use of the Services after an updated policy becomes effective may be treated as acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
